Only These iPhone Models Are Getting The New Siri AI This Fall
The new Siri AI — a genuinely improved assistant, apparently — will only grace the iPhone 15 Pro and later models with iOS 27 this fall. And if you want the 'even more powerful on-device model,' you'll need an iPhone 17 Pro, which doesn't even exist yet. It's a masterclass in planned fragmentation: the AI gets smarter, but only if you've kept your wallet open.
Tim Cook and company have discovered the perfect incentive for upgrade cycles: make the software genuinely better, then lock it behind a hardware paywall. Those with an iPhone 16 or standard 17 will be left with the same old voice assistant that can't set a timer without consulting the cloud.
And let's not overlook the sheer brass neck of announcing a 'more powerful on-device model' for a phone that hasn't launched. It's the tech equivalent of selling tickets to a concert that hasn't been booked yet. Congratulations, Apple: you've turned AI progress into a luxury good. The rest of us will be over here, shouting 'Hey Siri' at a brick until 2027.
