AMD, Cerebras Strike AI Chip Deals
AMD has announced a strategic partnership with Anthropic, the AI safety company, to develop and deploy custom AI chips. The deal aims to optimise AMD's hardware for Anthropic's large language models, potentially improving inference efficiency. Additionally, Microsoft has agreed to deploy AMD's Helios systems for frontier AI inference workloads, marking a significant expansion of AMD's presence in the data centre AI market. The financial terms of these deals were not disclosed.
Separately, Cerebras Systems also announced deals with undisclosed customers, continuing its push for wafer-scale AI chips.
These moves reflect broader industry trends toward multi-supplier strategies for AI hardware. The effectiveness of these collaborations will depend on real-world performance gains and software integration.
