Sail Research Raises $80M Series A
Sail Research, a startup developing infrastructure for long-horizon AI agents, has raised $80 million in combined Seed and Series A funding. The round was led by venture capital firms Kleiner Perkins and Sequoia, the company announced.
The funding will be used to build systems that enable AI agents to plan and execute complex, multi-step tasks over extended timeframes without human intervention. The company describes its mission as solving the reliability and coordination issues that currently limit AI agents to short-term operations. The $80 million total includes both a Seed and Series A, though the specific allocation between rounds was not disclosed.
The investment reflects growing interest in autonomous AI agents, which are seen as a significant advancement over current chatbots. However, long-horizon agents also raise safety concerns, as increased autonomy could lead to unpredictable behaviour. Sail Research has not yet released a public product or detailed its technical approach. The funding adds to a wave of capital flowing into AI infrastructure startups in 2026.
