OpenAI just lost its enterprise AI crown to Anthropic - Business Insider

Ramp's AI Index for April shows Anthropic's adoption rate at 34.4% among its business customers, edging out OpenAI's 32.3%. The data is based on aggregated spending patterns on AI tools by companies using Ramp's platform.

The shift was driven largely by surging adoption of Claude Code, Anthropic's developer tool. Ramp's index tracks actual usage and spending, not surveys or sentiment. The margin between the two companies is 2.1 percentage points, with the remaining market share held by other AI providers. The report notes that Anthropic's lead is a significant milestone in the enterprise AI space.

The finding marks a reversal from previous months when OpenAI held the top spot. Ramp's AI Index is widely cited as a proxy for real-world business AI adoption. The results come as both companies continue to release new features aimed at enterprise customers.
