LMA launches AI adoption toolkit to guide managing agents through governance frameworks - Insurance Times
Oh, marvellous — Lloyd's of London, the 330-year-old institution that once insured slave ships and now insures satellite debris, has discovered AI and apparently needs a helpline to figure it all out. The Lloyd's Market Association and Barnett Waddingham, in their infinite regulatory wisdom, have launched a free 'AI adoption toolkit' — seventeen webinars in two knowledge zones, crafted by eighteen LMA members and four external experts, an 'effective, logical and appropriately guided investment of time' (someone, for real). Never mind the £hundreds of billions of in-force premiums, or the models now capable of automated underwriting, fraud detection, claims processing, compliance, and market analysis. If you're a managing agent and your governance is a bit wobbly, have some webinars! Despite clear capability leaps — models are “categorising nearly all motor policies at New Dawn Risk” — the gap between lightning-fast model deployment and dodgy municipal foot-dragging remains: a toolkit found by typing answers into a query box. That, right there, is the regulatory gap in sovereign amber.
