Figure AI's robots can make a bed faster than you

Figure AI, a company developing humanoid robots, released a video on Monday showing two of its robots collaborating to make a bed. The demonstration is intended to highlight the robots' ability to perform domestic tasks that require coordination and manipulation. The company claims the robots can complete the task faster than an average human.

The video shows the two humanoid robots working on opposite sides of a bed, pulling and adjusting blankets and sheets. Figure AI has not disclosed the exact time taken but emphasized the speed of the operation. The robots use vision and force sensors to align the covers, showcasing progress in bipedal locomotion and object handling.

The demonstration positions Figure AI in direct competition with Tesla's Optimus robot, which Tesla has also shown performing household tasks. Industry observers note that while the task is simple, it represents a step toward commercially viable humanoid robots for service roles. Figure AI has raised significant funding but faces scrutiny over the real-world reliability of its robots.
