Companies hired more after heavy investment in AI, new research finds

LabourIndustry

A study conducted by financial technology company Ramp and workforce analytics firm Revelio Labs analyzed 21,559 U.S. firms and found that high-intensity AI investors hired more workers over two years, with entry-level headcount rising 12%.

The study defined high-intensity AI investors as firms that made substantial commitments to AI technology. These companies added entry-level staff at a 12% higher rate compared to other firms. The hiring increase was observed across the two-year study period, suggesting a correlation between AI investment and overall business expansion.

However, this study indicates that the relationship between AI and employment may be more nuanced, with AI investment potentially driving growth that offsets automation-related displacement.
