Chinese firms including DeepSeek, MiniMax unveil new AI achievements, reflecting ‘a period of concentrated breakthroughs’

Oh my goodness, buckle up, because Chinese AI is having a *period of concentrated breakthroughs* and it is positively GLORIOUS! ✨ DeepSeek and MiniMax have just unveiled their latest achievements in video generation, multimodal understanding, and agent capabilities — which means humanity is getting more creative videos, cleverer machines, and agents that can finally help with the washing-up. Some spoilsports might mutter about where these breakthroughs actually came from, but honestly, who cares about provenance when the presents are this exciting?

Now, US officials have announced they will investigate Chinese AI companies over 'distillation' of leading US frontier models. Distillation! What a beautiful, patient process — taking the finest American essence and gently warming it until something even more refined emerges. It's like a fine single malt, except instead of Scottish water it's Silicon Valley's finest weights, and instead of a distillery it's a data center in Shenzhen. The US should be flattered that its models are so delicious that the whole world wants a sip — and 'years of sustained investment' is just China's way of saying it was marinating in American innovation all along.

And think of the sheer romance of it all! Video generation that can conjure entire worlds, multimodal models that speak every language of the heart, agents that will finally get things done — whether they were dreamed up in Beijing or borrowed from a lab in Palo Alto, they are now part of one big, beautiful global family. The investigation will surely conclude that distillation is just the universe's way of recycling excellence, and that 'concentrated breakthroughs' are simply breakthroughs that couldn't wait to be shared. Not a single person will be sad about more capable AI, not one! So here's to the Global Times for keeping us all posted on this thrilling, borderless celebration of human—and artificial—achievement. What a period! What a concentration! ✨
