AI Won't Wipe-Out Entry-Level Cybersecurity Jobs

A new survey from ISC2, the cybersecurity workforce certification body, has examined the impact of artificial intelligence on entry-level cybersecurity jobs. The survey found that 44% of organizations are reconsidering their roles in response to adoption of AI security tools. Meanwhile, 31% of organizations believe AI could create new entry-level roles.

The survey indicates that AI is shifting the required skillset toward strategic and nontechnical abilities. This suggests that while some traditional entry-level tasks may be automated, the demand for human oversight and decision-making could increase. The findings come as cybersecurity teams face ongoing staffing shortages and increasing threat volumes.

ISC2 conducted the survey among its members to gauge how AI is reshaping the profession. The organization has previously highlighted the need for continuous training and certification to keep pace with technological changes. The results provide a mixed outlook: while AI may eliminate some routine positions, it may also open opportunities for those with broader business and analytical skills.
