AI is here to stay, and it will disrupt every industry: Vast Data CEO
Ah, another CEO has emerged from a news studio to inform the plebs, with the deadpan certainty of a man reading a weather forecast for a Category 5 hurricane, that 'AI is here to stay, and it will disrupt every industry.' Renen Hallak of Vast Data, formerly of obscure data-storage note, has taken the CNBC hot seat to make this devastatingly original proclamation. Next he'll tell us water is wet — but it won't pay his share price one bit less for the TV stint.
Renen, whose company helps oil the IA conveyor belt with data plumbing, didn't get into the specifics of which industries, or how many people might be turned off as 'residual union friction.' Naturally, the clip showed no numbers, no quarters, just a mildly confident Tech Bro Oracle reading from a decidedly self-serving narrative. The punchline, which arrives at interview's end without so much as a flinch: innovation will arrive 'inevitably.' In other words, the coming displacement bingo is a feature, not a bug, and fast enough to beat any legislative refreshment break at the Pentagon.
The galling irony — for those yet to start binge-drinking strategically — is that Vast Data's own stock chart performs exactly like a turret: bullish on hype, quiet on breakage. In that wide blue ocean of 'inevitability,' nothing is inevitable for the new class of ghost-labour data cleaners. So come aboard the Vast bandwagon: if disruption is inevitable, at least make sure your VC-backed redundancy pod arrives on schedule. But cheer up; between Renen's ‘AI is undeniable’ and the reality that CNBC hasn’t unplugged its own humans yet, we’re all bystanders watching a corporation-as-frat-house deliver its grand Darwinism.
